GPS Shoes

Posted by Milan Patel 8:28 PM |

IDG (Isaac Daniel Group) has developed GPS shoes, dubbed Blue GPS because of their Bluetooth capability. These shoes enable the wearer to be tracked by friends and family through their cell phones. The wearer simply inputs up to five phone numbers of family/friends into his cell phone (eventually this capability will be expanded to up to 20 people) and pushes a button on the shoe to activate a link with those on his list.

The Blue GPS can be enabled with all cellular phones. So people will be able to see where their friends are and have a better idea of estimated arrival time without having to call them. And, because the wearer doesn't have to be talking on the phone while driving, it will improve safety. In addition to the button linking the shoe and cell phone users, another button can be pressed for an 'E911' call. When that button is pushed, a signal is sent to IDG's monitoring division, ID Conex, which then attempts to contact the wearer. If the shoe wearer does not respond, ID Conex alerts the proper authorities.

How To Recruit The Right Person For The JOB?

Posted by Milan Patel 6:26 PM |

Put about 100 bricks in some particular order in a closed room with an open window.

Then send 2 or 3 candidates in the room and close the door.

Leave them alone and come back after 6 hours and then analyze the situation.

  • If they are counting the bricks, Put them in the accounts department.
  • If they are recounting them, Put them in auditing.
  • If they have messed up the whole place with the bricks, Put them in engineering.
  • If they are arranging the bricks in some strange order, Put them in planning.
  • If they are throwing the bricks at each other, Put them in operations.
  • If they are sleeping, Put them in security.
  • If they have broken the bricks into pieces, Put them in information technology.
  • If they are sitting idle, Put them in human resources.
  • If they say they have tried different combinations, yet not a brick has been moved, Put them in sales.
  • If they have already left for the day, Put them in marketing.
  • If they are staring out of the window, Put them on strategic planning.
  • And then last! but not least, If they are talking to each other and not a single brick has been moved.
  • Congratulate them and put them in top management .

Electrical Engineer's Funny ...!!! interview

Examiner : "tell me the difference between a choke and a coil"

New graduate EE (think he know): "A choke in a circuit is to slow down the flow of electrons. On the othe hand, the coil is to shoot the electrons to go much faster, just like the spring !"

Examiner : "tell me the difference between a capacitor and an inductor"

New graduate EE (think for a moment): "In the earlier day they used to call a capacitor a straptor because it use to strap the electrons in to a small tank for later use. The inductor is a self generator, it can product enegy"

Examiner (smile on his face): "Our company design and develope electric car for future vehical. If we hire you, can you help us to design a new car that can go more than 100 mile/ gallon?"

New graduate EE (very happy and stand up to answer): "Sure I can, I already have in mind a principle of a new enegy free car. I will design a very big inductor. The driver just have to hold a big magnet and slide the magnet over the inductor, the free energy will product; the faster the magnet slide back and forth the faster the car can go. Virtually energy from the inductor is unlimited....(he goes on and on, and on)"...

Examiner (stand up and cry): "Ok..ok..ok I get the picture. I think you are very smart and I think you must work for a place very importance like NASA. I will call for NASA to instroduce you to them"

New graduate EE (D.D.D): "D..D...D....D....."

New graduate EE (confused, he think he may get a big job in NASA): "you mean NASA??....."

Environmentalists push for new e-waste recycling law

Posted by Milan Patel 5:11 PM |

"Firms that make computers and mobile phones must take legal responsibility for recycling them," say environmentalists, who are pushing for a new law on handling e-waste. They also want a ban on import of old computers to India. Greenpeace India, along with Toxics Link, an environmental NGO, and the Manufacturers' Association of Information Technology (MAIT) are pushing for separate legislation for e-waste management to be enacted under the Environment Protection Act.

India is likely to generate as much as 800,000 tons of electronic waste by 2012 and there's only one government registered recycling firm. Most computers and phones are dismantled and shredded in the informal sector under dangerous circumstances, with little attention paid to safeguarding workers from the toxic components. According to a Greenpeace report, in 2007-2008, India generated 380,000 tons of e-waste. Only three per cent of this made it to the authorized recycler's facilities.

"Unlike most hazardous wastes that are directly produced by factories, e-wastes are post-consumer waste, so the way to recycle and treat them is different and hence, needs a separate law and a cradle to grave approach," says Abhishek Pratap, Greenpeace toxics' campaigner. The main contention of environmentalists is to place the legal onus of take back services (collection and recycling) directly on producer companies. The new legislation will hold producer companies responsible for the way their e-waste is recycled.

Chinese phones are banned in India

Posted by Milan Patel 4:54 PM |

The import of Chinese mobile phones without unique identity code numbers has been banned in India. "Import of mobile handsets without an international mobile equipment identify (IMEI) number is prohibited with immediate effect," the director general of the Foreign Trade announced in a notification.

IMEI is a unique 15-digit number, helps authorities to trace handsets through the calls made from them. Also, the Cellular Operators Association of India has developed a software to enable embedding of genuine identity codes issued by the Global Association of Telecom Operators for handsets which do not have the required IMEI numbers.

K Srinivasan, additional secre-tary, ELCINA, says, "This ban is a very positive sign. It will bring three advantages: it will assuage security concerns, it will act as a tracking mechanism for service
providers and will abate chances of theft."
